MUST-DO EVENTS IN MDR, MAY 20-22

From the weekly farmers market and food truck night to a beer fest and movies on the lawn, MDR is the place to be this weekend:
  • Shop for fresh produce, fruit and artisan crafts at the Marina del Rey Farmers Market on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. located at Lot #11 (Via Marina and Panay Way). 
  • It’s hoppin’ this weekend at the eight annual Los Angeles IPA Fest at Brennan’s. The beer festival will feature a selection of 60 beers from all over California to compete for the title of Best California IPA. General admission includes five beer tokens and an IPA Festival branded class for $38 per person, starting at noon. 
  • Grab your bestie for a fun rom-com evening at Jamaica Bay Inn. The free Movies on the Lawn will feature About a Boy (PG-13) starting at 7 p.m. Bring your own low chairs or blankets and order snacks and drinks from Beachside. Click here to view the line-up.
  • Start off the weekend on Thursday at Beach Eats, the weekly summertime food truck evenings at Lot #11 (Via Marina and Panay Way). Check out the line-up here
 

DRINKS with a view

Drinks in hand while you take in water views is the perfect way to enjoy a Southern California weekend. Here are just a few waterfront spots to sip champagne, seasonal cocktails or a cold glass of beer:   
  • Cast & Plow at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey offers fire pit tables on their outdoor terrace with spectacular harbor views.
  • Having drinks with friends? Try SALT for incredible sunset views. Or if you prefer to have beachfront views, check out Beachside just steps from Marina “Mother’s” Beach.
  • Locals also enjoy Brizo, Tony P’s Dockside Grill or Whiskey Red’s for casual drinks and a lively atmosphere.

There’s something unique about seeing Los Angeles from a coastal point of view. Check out fun ways to get on the water while in L.A.’s Marina: 
  • Hop aboard a public dining cruise to enjoy glorious sights and sounds from the comfort of a luxury yacht. Choose between dinner or weekend brunch or a fun cocktail cruise during sunset.
  • Celebrating a special anniversary, birthday or get-together? Charter a private boat and go for a sunset sail in Santa Monica Bay.
  • You can also rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard from Marina “Mother’s” Beach.
  • Or for the more adventurous, book a parasailing tour and soar 500′ above the sea for a bird’s eye view of the Los Angeles coastline.
 
 

 

LIVE MUSIC IN MDR  

You can find live bands, musicians and DJs performing throughout the weekend in Marina del Rey:   
  • Sinder Lounge: Unwind on Friday nights with live music, 7-9 p.m. 
  • Brizo Bar & Restaurant: Live DJs spin music every Friday and Saturday night at 9 p.m. in the lobby. 
  • The Warehouse Restaurant: Bring your dancing shoes for salsa and bachata on Friday nights starting at 9 p.m. with lessons and 10 p.m. open dancing ($15 cover charge). Or listen to R&B tunes this Saturday, May 21 with Chauncy Hines ($10 cover charge).
  • Killer Yacht Club: This hidden dockside speakeasy is located adjacent to Killer Shrimp. Live entertainment starts at 8 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.  
  • Fisherman’s Village: Weekend concerts are held in the plaza on Sundays, 2-5 p.m. Check out Jimbo Ross & The Bodacious Blues Band (Blues) on Sunday, May 21.
