April was a full month of exciting tourism and hospitality industry events showcasing Marina del Rey. The Marina del Rey Tourism Board attended industry trade shows, sponsored community events and facilitated local workshops for our business community. Scroll below to read more about our efforts.
One of the highlights was the Hotel Association of Los Angeles (HALA) Stars of the Industry Award show on April 5, 2023 exemplifying the best of the Los Angeles hotel community. We were proud to celebrate the accomplishments of Marina del Rey star nominee Maya Sibal, a 20-year host at Marina del Rey Marriott. More than 150 of Los Angeles' hospitality, civic and business leaders gathered to recognize the "Stars" nominees for the celebration.
Another notable event was the Hiring Resources Lunch & Learn on April 20, 2023 hosted by the MDR Tourism Board in partnership with Office of Supervisor Holly Mitchell and LAX Coastal Chamber. Held at the Marina del Rey Hotel, businesses and hiring managers throughout Marina del Rey, Westchester, and LAX areas learned about key resources and programs offered through the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity.
The Marina del Rey Tourism Board was honored to be the recipient of the Distinguished Partner of the Year Award at the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce Chairman's Reception on April 20, 2023 held at the Marina del Rey Marriott. Congrats to all the Chairman’s Award recipients!
The Marina del Rey Tourism Board team held one-on-one appointments with nearly 50 meeting and event planners at the Connect Spring 2023 show in Las Vegas. The goal was to promote Marina del Rey's event venues such as hotels, restaurants and yachts for planners to consider hosting future events.
Our staff attended the Visit California Canada Sales & Media Mission as delegates representing L.A.'s Marina. The weeklong trip from April 24-27, 2023 offered delegates from destination marketing organizations throughout California the chance to develop, rebuild and maintain important trade and media relationships with key Canada partners.
