Beaches

Whether you’re looking to relax on the beach, play on the sand or soak up some California rays, Marina del Rey beaches will satisfy your beach day craving. Enjoy Marina “Mother’s” Beach, a peaceful 12-acre lagoon just walking distance from most of the Marina’s hotels. Here, you’ll find playground equipment, sheltered picnic tables, and easy access to restrooms. Other beaches to explore include the Marina Peninsula, perfect for sunset strolls, boogie boarding and more. Or venture next door to Dockweiler State Beach, a popular location for beach bonfires. Biking

Pedal along the beautiful Los Angeles coastline during your visit to Marina del Rey. Several hotels in Marina del Rey offer bike rentals to guests. You can also rent bikes such as beach cruisers, tandem bikes, kid’s bikes and more at Fisherman’s Village through Daniel’s Bicycle Rentals.

Marina del Rey is part of the 22-mile paved bike trail that runs along the coast. Head south toward Manhattan Beach or north toward Santa Monica. Plan your biking adventure and click button for a map of the Marvin Braude Coastal Trail.

Farmers Market

Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can shop at the Marina del Rey Farmers Market located at Parking Lot 11 on the corner of Via Marina and Panay Way. This open-air market is filled with high quality produce, fresh flowers, seasonal fruits, and local vendors selling art and handmade gift items. Click button for more information.

Fishing on the Pier & Jetty

Find your next catch in the Marina. Licensed fishing is permitted at the north and south jetties, as well as Venice Pier, which doesn’t require a license. Licenses and bait are easy to buy at West Marine and/or Marina del Rey Sportfishing’s bait dock (located at Fisherman’s Village).

Fisherman's Village

This quaint replica of a New England seaport and fishing town is a perfect place to stroll the quiet harborfront. Take in the marina views, passing sailboats, and wildlife. There are several restaurants, the Marina del Rey Historical Society’s exhibit space, and a smattering of shops. Free live music is offered on the plaza on Sunday afternoons year-round (weather depending); find the current lineup in our events calendar. The village is the boarding place for City Cruises by Hornblower’s year-round dining cruises and Marina del Rey Parasailing (closed November-February), as well as one of the Marina’s destinations for hourly and daily rentals of sailing and power boats, jet skis, kayaks, and paddle boards. Fisherman’s Village also serves as one of eight pick-up/drop-off locations for the Water Bus (operates during the summer only). Parking is available onsite for $2 (up to 2 hours), $4 ( 2-4 hours) with a daily max of $8. Click button for more information.

Parks

Marina del Rey’s green spaces along the coastline are a perfect way to enjoy the sunshine and ocean breeze. Roll out a blanket and enjoy a picnic at Burton Chace Park; a 10-acre park surrounded on three sides by water offering spectacular harbor views. Take a moment to spot sea lions lounging on the docks next to the park. Explore Burke Park along Admiralty Way and try the parcourse fitness course. Or take a leisurely walk along the water at Aubrey Austin Jr. Park near the North Jetty. Don’t forget to bring the kiddos to the waterfront playground at Marina “Mother’s” Beach.
