Annual Sunset Series Regatta in Marina del Rey
The California Yacht Club organizes this series of sailing races that take place Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. It allows Southern California sailors the chance to participate in a time-honored event. The weekly races run April 19 – September 6, 2023.
The series originated in 1964 and is the largest sailboat regatta on Santa Monica Bay, with 21 scheduled races of eight boat classes. Around 75 sailboats often participate.
We recommend viewing from Fisherman’s Village and Burton Chace Park or the North Jetty. The best part–it’s free to watch!
And as the sun sets, grab your camera and capture the stunning scene of the sailboats gliding back into the harbor. If you’re at Burton Chace Park enjoying a picnic or at a waterfront restaurant facing the channel, you’ll be treated to the majestic sailboats making their return around 7:30 p.m. It’s a picture-perfect moment you won’t want to miss!
