Since 1997, Tony P's Dockside Grill has been more than just a restaurant-it’s been the heart and soul of Marina del Rey’s waterfront dining scene. For 28 years, this local favorite has welcomed both regulars and newcomers with great food, friendly service, and classic harbor views that reflect the best of Southern California.
Founded by industry veterans Tony Palermo and Dan Ringwood, who first met as cooks in Detroit in 1975, Tony P’s was born from a shared dream and a relentless pursuit of hospitality excellence.
After transforming a former Charlie Brown’s location, they opened their doors on Super Bowl Sunday in 1997, and quickly became known as the go-to spot for family gatherings, sports celebrations, and memorable sunsets on the marina. Over the years, Tony P’s has racked up awards for its food, service, and vibrant atmosphere, earning a reputation as the Westside’s top sports tavern and a true community anchor. Tried and true favorites include their Fish & Chips, clam chowder served in a bread bowl, and of course, there delicious and famous Mai-Tais. Did you know they've served more than 100,000 Mai-Tais?
Throughout the years, the restaurant has supported hundreds of local schools through their Dockside Dollars fundraisers and field trips where students visit the restaurant and learn how to make pizza. They have sponsored everything from local youth athletic teams and the annual Fourth of July Parade in Westchester to the annual Santa Claus tour of the neighborhood and local schools. “Tony P’s is the success it is largely because Dan and Tony work hard and never forget their larger responsibility to support their community. I commend them for their exemplary commitment to helping meet local needs by donating to hundreds of non-profit organizations and schools through their ‘Dockside Dollars’ fundraising program,” said State Senator Ted Lieu when Tony P's received the Business of the Year Award.
But all good things must come to an end. After five decades in the restaurant business, Tony and Danny have made the bittersweet decision to retire, closing Tony P’s Dockside Grill on June 29. Until then, locals, visitors, and loyal guests are invited to savor one last meal, share memories, and raise a glass to the end of an era. The final weeks promise to be a celebration of everything this cherished neighborhood favorite has meant to Marina del Rey-so don’t miss your chance to say farewell.
