Marina del Rey Historical Society
The Marina del Rey Historical Society is a community-based organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Marina del Rey and the surrounding coastal communities. Founded in 2007, the society collects and safeguards historical photographs, slides, documents, maps, magazines, memorabilia and oral histories that reflect the area’s people, places and evolution over time.
Through public exhibits, educational presentations, digital archives and local publications, the Marina del Rey Historical Society helps residents and visitors connect with the stories that have shaped L.A.’s Marina. While its primary focus is Marina del Rey, the organization also documents the heritage of neighboring coastal areas, including Playa del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica, Playa Vista and San Pedro.
